高级英语是高等教育自学考试英语专业高级阶段(本科)的精读课,属必考课程。在语音、语调、词汇和语法的知识已经掌握,听、说、读、写、译的语言技能已经打好基础后,本课程的重点是:(1)提高阅读理解和词汇运用能力,即能掌握和使用所学的词汇,特别是同义词、近义词的区分和使用,正确理解文章的内容和主题思想,抓住文章的要点,分析文章的结构、语言技巧和修辞特点;(2)提高语言表达能力,即能用英语解释、用汉语翻译文章中的难句,使用英语归纳文章的主题思想,并能对文章的内容进行简单的分析、评论。

在这一阶段,学生应该能用辞典和其他工具书独立解决语言和文化、背景知识方面的难点,提高自学能力,增加自学能力,增加文化知识,尤其是所学语言国家(主要是英、美)的背景和文化知识,更好地使语言和文化结合在一起。

(二)教学要求:

本课程的教学要注重使用以学生为中心的讨论式教学方法。以目标语为授课和课堂交流语言。

通过真实的交际型任务,创造好的语言产出环境,以便培养学生使用目标语言在高层次上表达、交流思想和分析问题的能力。同时要注重语言输入的质量和文化内涵,以便让学生得到真实和地道的语言信息。

本课程包括政治、经济、社会、语言、文学、教育、哲学等方面的文章。每课前附有导读课文后附有注释,包括作家介绍,历史背景,有关典故,语言难点并且每篇课文都配有大量的相关练习,包括课文理解、词汇练习、口头练习、中英互译和写作练习等。通过高级英语本课程的学习,学生应达到以下基本要求:

一、课程的性质及任务

本课程是广东省主要面向中小学教师开设的英语教育(本科)教学计划中的核心课程之一。设置本课程的目的在于加强及提高考生的英语阅读理解和英语知识运用能力。

二、指定必读教材

李观仪主编的《新编英语教程》第五册,上海外语教育出版社出版。

三、考试题型

高级英语(一)试卷由六个部分组成:

1、阅读理解 (20%)

2、词汇 (10%)

3、完形填空 (10%)

4、成段改错 (10%)

5、句型转换 (10%)

6、汉译英 (40%)

四、题型说明

1、阅读理解

阅读理解包括两部分。

第一部分包含取自指定必读教材课文的若干段落,总长度为800词左右,总共10道选择题。要求考生读完指定的段落后,根据自己的理解选择最佳答案。本部分主要测试考生能否理解所学过的教材课文的细节以及主要词汇的意义。

第二部分包含难度与教材课文相当的文章若干篇,文章的难度、体裁和题材各不相同,总长度为800词左右。每篇文章后面有10道是非题。要求考生读完每篇文章后,根据题目的要求和文章的内容,对于考题中给出的句子做出“是”或“非”的判断。本部分主要测试考生能否抓住文章的要旨,能否理解文章的细节,能否把握文章的逻辑结构并根据文章提供的信息进行逻辑推理或判断,以及能否根据上下文猜测生词的意义。

2、词汇

词汇部分包含10道多项选择题(选词填空)。本部分主要测试考生对于指定必读教材的词汇的掌握程度,尤其是对意义相近的词汇的辨别能力。所测试的词汇全部选自必读教材。

3、完形填空

完形填空的短文选自指定必读教材课文,其中有10个单词只保留第一个字母,其余部分被抽掉,成为空白。要求考生在空白处填上恰当的字母,使组成的单词与上下文意义相符,词语搭配得当,前后语气连贯。本部分主要测试考生理解文章,运用词汇和语法知识的能力。考生答题前必须先将短文通读一遍,理解其大意,然后根据所学的语法、篇章、词语搭配等方面的知识去填写正确答案。

4、成段改错

成段改错的短文选自指定必读教材课文,改错部分分10行排列,每行右侧行尾有一条带有编号的横线。有的行里有错误,有的行里没有错误,但每行最多一个错误。错误类型有三种:(1)多加了一个词的错误;(2)漏掉一个词的错误;(3)用词不当的错误,包括在词义、语法、搭配方面的用词错误。做这道题的要求是:1、在多余的词上划一条斜线,例如“there”,然后将词写在右侧的编号横线上;2、在漏掉了词的地方标上一个“插入号”---“∧”,并将漏掉的词(即你认为要加上去的词)写在右侧编号横线上;3、在错误的用词的底下划一条横线,例如“that”,并将正确的词写在右侧编号横线上;4、在没有错误的那一行的右侧编号横线上打一个“√”。本部分主要测试考生辨别错误和正确用词的能力。

5、句型转换

句型转换共有10道题,每道题包含一个完整的句子和一个不完整的句子,完整的句子全部选自指定必读教材课文。要求考生把不完整的句子补充完整,使其意义与所提供的相应的句子基本相同。本部分主要测试考生理解所学过的教材课文的细节程度以及灵活运用语法规则表达思想的能力。

6、汉译英

汉译英的素材选自指定必读教材课文,包括2篇各含250字左右的短文。要求考生把其中底下划线的8段句子翻译成英语。本部分主要测试考生掌握所学过的教材课文的程度以及运用所学的词汇和语法知识进行英语书面表达的能力。

In science fiction there is to be found the recurrent theme of the omniscient computer which ultimately takes over the ordering of human life and affairs. Is this possible? IV Proofreading (10%)

The following passage contains several errors, each line with a maximum of one error. And ATTENTION, some lines might be free from error. In each case only one word is involved. You should proofread the passage and correct the errors in the following way:

For a wrong word, underline the wrong word and write the correct one in the blank provided at the end of the line.

For a missing word, mark the position of the missing word with a “∧” sign and write the word you believe to be missing in the blank provided at the end of the line.

For an unnecessary word, cross out the unnecessary word with a slash “/” and put the word in the blank provided at the end of the line.

For a correct line, place a tick “√”in the blank provided at the end of the line.
